Dr Tommy Fluen BSc, MSc (Hons) DVM (Internal Medicine Resident)
Tommy grew up in Auckland before moving to Christchurch and attending Canterbury University to complete his BSc and MSc in biology. He then worked as an environmental scientist for almost 3 years before moving to Melbourne where he completed a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Tommy’s first job was as a hospital/after hours vet in a big private practice in the United Kingdom. He then undertook a rotating internship at Davies Veterinary Specialists in Hertfordshire, UK, one of the largest private referral centres in Europe. Not long after beginning the internship Tommy was offered the internal medicine residency back in Auckland, so he moved back to Auckland at the end of 2016. Tommy recently achieved membership status of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in small animal internal medicine and is working towards his fellowship exams. Tommy’s partner, Josie is also a vet and they have two cats, Gus and Ernie, and their newest addition is their little boy, Ted.
